I made this body of work for my solo show, Between Fact and Fiction, at Flashpoint Gallery in Washington DC. I focused on creating inventions that flirt with danger and violence but offer lighthearted and playful interactions that make viewers smile and grimace simultaneously. These creations illuminate the inherent strangeness of the objects that I collect as they relate to mechanical functions. By developing relationships with these objects through the process of taking them apart, I transform the history within them to make fictitious, strangely integrated, yet well-crafted combinations.
